Constance Campbell Petrie (1873 – July 4, 1926) was an esteemed writer born in Queensland. She was the youngest daughter of Thomas Petrie and Elizabeth, formerly Campbell.
In 1904, Constance collaborated with her father, Thomas, to publish “Tom Petrie’s Reminiscences of Early Queensland,” a book revered for its detailed insights into Brisbane’s early history. Constance skillfully maintained her father’s engaging conversational style, enriching the narrative with significant Aboriginal folklore and historical information.
In 1918, Constance married George Philip Stuart, who served as the manager of the Brisbane Branch of the Union Bank of Australia for some time.
After battling illness for several years, Constance passed away on July 4, 1926, and was laid to rest in Toowong Cemetery. She resided in Clayfield, Queensland, at the time of her death. Her husband, George, survived her, as did her mother, Elizabeth, who passed away later that same year.
